ITEST Symposia at AERA 2016 Annual Meeting

Description

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) 2016 Annual Meeting will take place in Washington, DC, between April 8-12.  The theme for this year's meeting is "Public Scholarship to Educate Diverse Democracies".  As in previous years, STELAR facilitated the submission of symposium proposals from several ITEST projects. 

We are pleased to announce the following two ITEST Symposium sessions during AERA 2016:

"Finding the Hook: Engaging Teachers and Students in Computer Science" - Friday, April 8, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Level One, Room 149 A - Symposium in Division C, Section 1e:  Learning and Instruction / Engineering and Computer Science.  Presenting ITEST Projects: Human-Centered Robotics Experiences for Exploring Engineering, Computer Science, and Society, Indiana University; FUSE Studios, Northwestern Univeresity; Design-based Information Technologies Learning Experiences (DITLE), University of Cincinnati; Memphis Virtual STEM Academy, The University of Memphis;  and Integrated Computer Science in Elementary Curricula (iCS), Georgia State University.  Chair: Meghan McCarthy Welch; Discussant: Darryl Williams.

"Programs That Engage and Motivate Students to Pursue STEM Careers Through National Science Foundation–Funded Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers Programs" - Saturday, April 9, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Convention Center, Level One, Room 144 C - Symposium in Division C, Section 1d: Learning and Instruction / Science.  Presenting ITEST Projects: GIS/T Resources and Applications for Career Education (GRACE), Eastern Michigan University; Project ReCharge, University of Nevada - Reno; The Eyes See It All, Tuskegee University; Studio STEM, North Carolina State University; and Seeding the Future: Creating a Green Collar Workforce through Learning about Indoor Urban Farming Technologies and Alternative Energy Sources, Boston College.  Chair: Michael Barnett; Discussant: Rebecca Kruse.
