The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a Research Announcement (NRA) soliciting proposals from Informal Education Institutions (IEIs) for informal education opportunities in support of NASA’s Office of Education (OE) under the STEM Education and Accountability Project (SEAP). The Dimensions of Success observation tool, or DoS, defines twelve indicators of STEM program quality in out-of-school time (e.g., afterschool, summer camps, etc.). It was developed and studied with funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) by the Program in Education, Afterschool and Resiliency (PEAR), along with partners at Educational Testing Services (ETS) and Project Liftoff.

ASTE advances practice and policy through scholarship, collaboration, and innovation in science teacher education. The theme of the 2016 meeting is Forging New Trails towards 21st Century Science Education. It takes place on January 7-9, 2016, in Reno, NV.

More than 100 suburban students in Boulder CO from low SES backgrounds in middle school are engaged in structured, project-based out of school time engineering experiences in conjunction with the I Have a Dream program.
Up to 100 rural and suburban underrepresented minority youth, grades 6-8, are engaged in structured, hands-on and innovative STEM activities in Atlanta, GA on Saturday's during the school year along with summer academy hands-on field experiences.
