2017 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) - Call for Nominations

Do you know an individual or an organization working hard to nurture future science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) talent?

If so, nominations are currently open for the 2017 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM). The deadline for nominations is Friday, June 17, 2016.

What is PAESMEM?

PAESMEM is the highest honor bestowed upon mentors who work to expand STEM talent.The National Science Foundation (NSF) administers the honorary awards program on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). OSTP selects both individuals and organizations to receive the honor. Each awardee receives $10,000 and a presidential citation at a White House ceremony, among other activities and recognition events held in Washington.

Who is eligible?

Individuals and organizations performing exceptional mentoring activities in formal and informal settings are eligible to submit a nomination for a PAESMEM award. This includes all public and private sectors, including industry, academia, K-12 schools, military and government, non-profit organizations and foundations.

Nominations are encouraged from all geographical regions in the U.S., its territories and particularly jurisdictions designated by Congress under NSF's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR). NSF EPSCoR-designated jurisdictions are: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, U.S. Virgin Islands, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Instructions for nomination will be sent to the person or organization nominated within 24 hours.
