2019 Research + Practice Fellow
Are you a communications/education researcher or learning scientist committed to equity in STEM engagement? Are you interested in developing more equitable relationships with science communication and engagement practitioners who are equally committed to STEM equity and social justice?
For the second year, an intimate, engaging, and ambitious conference focused on the need for more inclusive science communication research and practice will be meeting September 27-29, 2019, at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island. Research + Practice Fellowships are available to help you attend.
As a Research + Practice Fellow, you will receive up to $2000 to attend the #InclusiveSciComm symposium. During the conference, as part of the fellowship, you will be teamed up with 2-3 other Fellows and meet as a group with a Collaboratory mentor to discuss your thoughts and experiences while attending the event. All researchers are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to doctoral students and early career scholars, particularly those from communities historically marginalized from STEM, on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, and dis/ability.
Apply now. Researchers and grad students in areas of science communication, science learning, and public engagement are welcome to apply. Funds can be used towards event registration, travel, lodging, and federal per diem rates for meals. Candidates should describe why you feel attending the conference will support both your work and the field of science communication. Applicants must work and reside in the U.S.
DEADLINE: Applications are due Monday, June 3, 2019.
