International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) 2017 Conference - Call for STEM Showcases

DESCRIPTION

Date: March 16-18, 2017

Location: Dallas, TX

Theme: Engaging and Empowering Decision Makers through Integrative STEM Education

Strand 1: Engaging Our Students

Providing our students with experiences that excite and relate to their passions creates an environment in which they are engaged and invested in their learning. Sessions in this strand should provide strategies to engage students through Integrative STEM Education activities designed to intentionally teach content and practices of science, mathematics, and other relevant curricular areas of education, through technology and engineering education.

Strand 2: Engaging Our Colleagues

Integrative STEM Education activities and experiences can be strengthened and showcased when like-minded colleagues are engaged. Sessions in this strand should provide examples, strategies, and best practices that demonstrate successful collaborations with colleagues in the promotion and advancement of Integrative STEM Education.

Strand 3: Engaging Our Communities

It is very important that those involved in the development and delivery of Integrative STEM Education connect and engage with their local, state, national and international communities involved in STEM. Sessions in this strand should provide examples of how those involved in Integrative STEM Education connect and partner with their communities (e.g., parents and student guardians, business and industry) to improve teaching and learning in STEM.

Strand 4: Engaging Our Leaders

To be successful, Integrative STEM Education must engage those involved in all levels of educational decision making. Sessions in this strand should showcase how we can best engage current leaders (e.g., local boards of education, national departments of education) and potential leaders (teachers, professors, state advisors) in our profession. Effective leadership working together with educators can be used to support and help Integrative STEM Education programs grow and prosper.
