The curricular materials below have been developed by ITEST projects and shared for dissemination to broader audiences through STELAR’s resource library. ITEST projects work with PreK-12 youth in a variety of STEM disciplines and settings. Additional information is included within each entry, including information about the project’s focus and audience, as well as PDFs and/or URLs to the original resource. These materials are made available for public use through the National Science Foundation’s public access policy, which encourages funded projects to share all materials generated over the course of the grant. Unless otherwise noted, these curricular materials are free to use with appropriate credit to the organization/authors.
Journey North engages students in a global study of wildlife migration and seasonal change. Use this site to track the coming of spring through the migration patterns of monarch butterflies, bald eagles, robins, hummingbirds, whooping cranes and other birds and mammals; the budding of plants; changing sunlight; and other natural events. Find photos, real-time mapping, the latest news, a compendium of facts, and other resources on these and other topics. K-12 students are invited to track and share their own field observations with classmates across North America on this site and now through a downloadable app.

Girls and Science: A Training Module on Motivating Girls to Embark on Science and Technology CareersCurricular Materials
Social and economic development of a country is closely linked to the educational level of its female population. As women in the developing world are generally under-represented in science and technology, this training module aims to address the inherent gender disparities in this field, with a specific focus on Africa. This training manual developed and distributed by UNESCO is written to teach educators about gender disparities in science. Six units provide training, career guidance information, and activities.
Through these role model videos, professionals' real world views and application of math show high school students just how relevant math is to their futures. Filmed on location, professionals tell students about how they use math in their careers and what math meant to them in high school. The role model videos are an important aspect of the"Scaling Up STEM Learning with the VCL" model. Teacher participants in this ITEST project were required to screen videos from this resource and engage their students in discussion about real world use of math and potential interest in STEM occupations. Developing Project Based Instructional Units Utilizing ArcGIS Online is an open, asynchronous, self-paced 40 hour, 5 module training course that utilizes ArcGIS Online for secondary educators (thoguh post-secondary educators may benefit from the course as well). The Earth Exploration Toolbook is a collection of computer-based Earth science activities that high school and college teachers can incorporate into their teaching. Each activity, or chapter, introduces one or more data sets and an analysis tool that enables users to explore some aspect of the Earth system. Users can search for chapters by Earth system topic or tool.Within the context of a case study, each chapter guides users through a step-by-step process in which they access data and use analysis tools to explore real issues and questions in Earth system science. Resources are aligned to Common Core and national standards and include videos and interactives as well as audio files, documents, and in-depth lesson plans.
