Women veterans bring many strengths to the civilian workforce, such as leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills, as well as resilience and persistence. Women veterans are nearly twice as likely to be in a STEM occupation than are non-veteran women. While there have been increase in the number of programs and the availability of support services for veterans, and for women, but to there is currently no structure or system to align all these efforts to serve women veterans.

The Quality Education for Minorities (QEM) Network is dedicated to improving education from underrepresented students throughout the nation. QEM continues to be the premier organization for improving the quality of education for minorities, by providing technical assistance to MSIs, funding internship opportunities for underrepresented students, and advocating for college and career readiness in STEM.  

On August 4, STELAR hosted NSF Program Officers Monica Cardella and Robert Russell for a final Q&A session designed for those planning to submit proposals on August 14, 2020. The was held as an “office hours” style discussion, and was geared towards answering the more technical questions around completing the required proposal sections and finalizing your submission. Questions that were submitted in advance, as well as throughout the webinar. 

On Monday, July 13, STELAR held a webinar on behalf of the National Science Foundation sharing details of the recently-released Dear Colleague Letter: Advancing Educational Innovations that Motivate and Prepare PreK-12 Learners for Computationally-Intensive Industries of the Future (NSF 20-101). 

The NSF Convergence Accelerator (CA) program is hosting its first ever Expo, NSF CA Expo 2020 on July 1-2, 2020 – a virtual meeting that provides an opportunity for all of the FY 2019 Convergence Accelerator projects to share information about their projects with the public. Expo 2020 is the “must attend” inaugural event for the NSF Convergence Accelerator and the Pilot Cohort.
