Report Out from Strands
Description: Strand facilitators provide a summative report out of the highlights of the strand discussions. This information will be synthesized and form the basis of the development of an ITEST STEM workforce development model. More details on this process will be made available by the ITEST LRC in the coming months. The goal of this year’s Summit was to explore, as a community, evidence gathered across the ITEST program and determine how this evidence collectively contributes to a common STEM workforce development model that can be replicated nationally.
In plenary sessions and small breakout working sessions, participants worked to articulate central components of this model and evidence of their effectiveness. In the strands, facilitators and participants covered the following focus areas:
Strand A: Local context and cultural relevance - Facilitators: Angelique Tucker Blackmon / Karen Peterman
Strand B: STEM skills and knowledge - Facilitators: Gill Roehrig / Rachel Becker-Klein
Strand C: Partnerships - family, community, industry - Facilitators: Beth McGrath / Ginger Fitzhugh
Strand D: Career pathways - Facilitators: Jeanne Chowning / Kirk Knestis
Strand E: Youth development - Facilitators: Mike Barnett / Camille Ferguson
Strand F: Teacher professional development - Facilitators: Kathy Hayden / David Reider
