NSF ITEST Program Workshop at University of Nevada, Las Vegas
DESCRIPTION
NSF and STELAR hosted a workshop on March 27 & 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada designed to highlight the National Science Foundation’s Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) Program.
The ITEST program funds applied research and development projects that are designed to advance the equitable and inclusive integration of technology in both formal and informal learning environments for pre-K through high school youth. NSF and STELAR are working to raise awareness and increase the geographic diversity of the ITEST portfolio by performing outreach to EPSCoR-located organizations, in order to support and encourage strong, competitive ITEST proposal submissions ahead of the August 9 solicitation deadline (22-585).
This workshop was designed for education researchers, formal and informal educators, interested collaborators, and institutions including universities, museums, community colleges, school districts, community organizations and non-profits. It is intended for those new to NSF proposal writing, and will provide important information including:
- the goals and priorities of the ITEST program
- examples of projects that have been funded by ITEST
- required components for proposals
- intellectual merit, broader impacts, and solicitation-specific review criteria
- a review of existing proposal development resources
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with colleagues for networking, discussion, and small groups activities. This workshop included ample opportunities to reflect, ask questions, and discuss proposal concepts directly with NSF program officers.
