NSF Job Announcement: Deputy Division Director, Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is looking for an individual to serve as Deputy Division Director of the Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings (DRL) and as a member of the leadership team of the Directorate for Education and Human Resources. The Division serves as the focal point in the Foundation for investments to improve the effectiveness of STEM learning for people of all ages. Its mission includes promoting innovative research, development, and evaluation of learning and teaching across all STEM disciplines and learning environments by advancing cutting-edge knowledge and practices in both formal, including K-12, and informal learning settings. DRL's role in the larger context of Federal support for education research and evaluation is to be a catalyst for change and enrichment—advancing theory, method, measurement, development, and application in STEM education.
The Deputy Division Director partners with the Division Director in providing leadership and direction to the Division. Assists the Division Director in carrying out Division-wide responsibilities such as strategic planning and management, performance appraisals, budget preparation for submission to Congress, staff recruitment and supervision, and oversees the competitive review of proposals for awards and declinations. Represents NSF to relevant external groups and fosters partnerships with other Divisions, Directorates, Federal agencies, scientific organizations and the academic community at large. The Deputy Division Director assumes the Division Director role in the absence of the Division Director.
