Webinar: MSPnet Academy - How to design 3D formative assessments for NGSS

DESCRIPTION

Presenters: William Penuel, Philip Bell
Feb 2, 2017 at 5:00 PM (Eastern)

Both the Framework for K-12 Science Education (NRC, 2012) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS Lead States, 2013) require new assessments of science proficiency as an integrated understanding of disciplinary core ideas, science and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts. Though many science teachers, district leaders, and state science supervisors are tasked with developing these new assessments, there is a need for both templates to guide design and examples of good “three-dimensional” assessments to draw upon (NRC, 2013). In this workshop, William Penuel and Philip Bell from the Research+Practice Collaboratory, will present and illustrate applications of two tools for integrating science and engineering practices and crosscutting concepts into assessments for classroom use. We will also discuss strategies for integrating supports for emerging bilingual students into formative assessment tools and practices.

Capacity is limited and access is first-come, first served. Please RSVP to confirm your attendance. Early admission (10 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time) will be granted to those who respond "yes".
