As part of NSF's Cyberinfrastructure Framework for 21st Century Science and Engineering (CIF21) activity, the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR) seeks to enable research communities to develop visions, teams, and capabilities dedicated to creating new, large-scale, next-generation data resources and relevant analytic techniques to advance fundamental research for areas of research covered by EHR programs.

The National Science Foundation’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program provides non-dilutive funds for small businesses to conduct research and development (R&D) on technology innovations that have the potential to be commercially successful and benefit society. The NSF SBIR program accepts innovative proposals that show promise of commercial and societal impact in almost all areas of technology.

2017 Theme: Serving Society Through Science Policy

The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) aims to bridge research and practice in education. In addition to collecting education statistics and funding a wide range of research, IES also makes major investments in building capacity among states, districts, and others to use objective, scientific evidence to improve education outcomes. The Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) program is one of IES's largest programs supporting the use of scientific evidence in education.

The NSF Directorate for Computer & Information Science & Engineering (CISE) will host a one-day workshop on CAREER Proposal Writing on April 4, 2016. This workshop will be held at the Westin Arlington Gateway in Arlington, Virginia.
