Strengthening the Pathway from Service to STEM: The Future of Women Veterans in STEM
DESCRIPTION
The percentage of Veterans who are women in the United States will double between 2010 and 2040. The enlisted active-duty force mirrors the ethnic and racial diversity of the United States and, therefore, many recent Veterans come from populations underrepresented in STEM. Recruiting and supporting Women Veterans to pursue post-service STEM careers will therefore help to broaden participation in STEM. However, these Veterans need support and resources as they look to translate their military experience into the civilian workforce. This policymaker briefing will explore policy issues that will help address these unique needs and opportunities.
