Proposal Steps

Congratulations, you’ve reached the end of Module 8! Below is a summary of the activities you’ve completed and this module’s assignment. Review your brainstorming activities and make any desired updates before you export your summary.

Review the remaining elements from the checklists you developed above. Write a short paragraph describing the biggest obstacle standing between where you are now and the submission of your proposal, and how you plan on addressing it. What steps are you going to take to complete this task? What resources or support do you need to complete this section?

Now that you have a first draft of your Project Description, you can write the Project Summary. Be sure to articulate how the proposal meets the Intellectual Merit and Broader Outcomes review criteria, and that your summary includes all the elements listed below.

Does your Project Summary…

  • Begin with a sentence that clearly indicates the type of ITEST project being submitted (ETD, DTI, SEI) and the STEM Content being addressed?
  • Include all of the technical requirements listed in both the PAPPG and the ITEST Solicitation?
  • Include three separate sections, each with its appropriate heading:
    • Project Summary providing the project overview?
    • Intellectual Merit Section?
    • Broader Impacts Section?
  • Does each section meet the specific criteria/expectations for that section?
