Getting Started

The goal of this module is for you to develop partnerships that help the project achieve its goals.

Objectives of this Module

In this module you will:

  • Learn about the importance of high-quality, productive partnerships to successful projects
  • Review the steps to engaging partners successfully:
    • Identify and engage internal and external partners in the proposal development process
    • Negotiate roles and responsibilities/budget of selected partners
    • Obtain necessary proposal text and Letters of Collaboration from partners
  • Draft sections of the project description required to describe partner organizations and their roles in projects

Module format

This module has the following sections:

  • Overview provides module objectives.
  • Topics cover specific module content. Embedded within each topic section are activities and assignments designed to build on and support what you have just learned. This module has four topic sections:
    • Orientation to Partnerships
    • Selecting Partners
    • Negotiating Roles of Partners and Partnership Etiquette
    • Drafting the Partnership Section of a Proposal (First Draft)
  • Proposal Steps will summarize the activities from the previous sections within the module. Each of these summaries are designed to help with writing your proposal.
  • Resources will provide general and specific resources, quick links to useful sites, and exemplars of proposal material.
