Proposal Steps

Assignment

Pull together each section that you have now drafted, reviewing and editing these into your first draft of the Proposal Description. Ensure that it is logical, well written, and compelling. Check that it includes the following:

  • Project Overview, Rationale, and Importance
  • Goals/Objectives/Research Questions
  • Logic Model (Optional)
  • Project Activities Solicitation-Specific Special Review Criteria
  • Expertise and Management Plan
  • Results from Prior NSF Support (to be included only if you or your Co-PIs have received NSF funding before for a project related to the one being proposed)
  • Intellectual Merit
  • Broader Impacts
  • References (not included in 15-page limit)

Note that you will not yet have a complete, 15-page Project Description. Other sections of the Project Description, including Dissemination, Research and Development Design, and Project Evaluation will be covered in later modules.
